Active sustainability at Berglandmilch certified by klima:aktiv
Economical use of resources and efficient production methods are just two of the areas in which Berglandmilch has been committed to sustainability for years now. To provide just one example, green electricity from hydropower has been used exclusively since 2013. Instead of allowing heat to evaporate, heat recovery processes are used which, among other things, allow households to be supplied with waste heat from the production process by feeding it into local heating networks.
In order to underline its sustainable approach, the company has been a klima:aktiv partner since autumn 2014. Numerous projects in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability have received awards since then. This year was already the fifth time that Berglandmilch has been awarded the "commitment to climate protection" certificate by the Federal Minister for Tourism and Sustainability, Elisabeth Köstinger.
Managing Director Josef Braunshofer is delighted with the recognition and also refers to the recently published sustainability report of Berglandmilch: "In this report, we provide a detailed account of the many projects that we are conducting in the area of sustainability. These cover the recyclability of packaging materials, optimization of water consumption, efficient logistics from the farmer to the shelf, and many other things."
